1. Minutes of the sixth meeting, held on March
7, 2002, were approved as distributed.

Engineering with the Technical University of Denmark.

4. Graduate Faculty
a. Graduate Council considered and approved 5 applicants for Graduate
Faculty. The new members are:

5. GPSGA Report
a. The Graduate and Professional Student Government Association (GPSGA)
along with the Texas Tech University Graduate School and the Teaching,
Learning and Technology Center will host the GPSGA First Annual Research
Poster Presentation from 1:00-4:00 p.m. on Friday, April 5, 2002, in the
Texas Tech University Library in the TLTC. Please see

b. NBGSC - The National Black Graduate Student Conference was held in
Washington, D.C. on March 27 - 31, 2002. While at the conference, Texas
Tech University graduate student Oscar Solis was elected as treasurer
for the National Black Graduate Student Association. Texas Tech University
graduate student Felix Moore presented a paper and won first place in
the Fine Arts Division.
c. Elections for the TTU Graduate and Professional Student Government
officers will be held on April 18 and 19. Nominations are currently being
accepted.
6. Donna Rogers, Coordinator of College Development,
distributed updated Texas Tech University Graduate School Fellowship information.
All awards have been announced for the 2002-2003 academic year. Please

7. Announcements
a. Proposals for an International MBA Program, a Biological Informatics
Program, and a 150- Hour program for Electrical Engineering are pending.
b. The Educational Testing Service has announced that it will eliminate
84 of its 195 overseas, computer-based testing centers because the centers
are not economically viable. To ensure continuity of service, ETS will
establish paper-based testing centers at educational organizations such
as colleges, universities, schools and advising centers in the affected

The eighth meeting of the 2001-2002 Graduate Council will be held at 2:30
p.m., Thursday, May 2, 2002, in the Provost Conference Room, 104 Administration.
